I can hardly contain my excitement, because my logo is finally finished!! Drum roll, please….
Ta da!
Now, this logo may seem simple, but believe it or not, a lot of thought went into it. A key part of marketing effectively is to establish your brand. A brand is composed of EVERYTHING that makes up your business (i.e. logo, colors, name, your interactions with others, etc.) With this in mind, these first posts are about me building a brand and showing you how to do the same.
So in the last post, you read about all the adjectives that describe me, and you also had the pleasure of seeing some pictures that portrayed similar attributes. 🙂 Well now, I will tell you how my logo fits in to all of that.
First off: I chose to be simple when choosing a name. When you call for a consultation, you will ask for Lindsay Plathe. And what do I do? I wanted to people to gather as much information about my business as possible just by taking a glance at my logo. Therefore, I added “marketing consulting”, because that is what my business is all about. To sum it up, the words that make up my logo tell a story: “This girl named Lindsay Plathe can provide you with expert advice in marketing your business.” 🙂
Now for (my favorite) the color…the colors that represent me are bright, vibrant, and cheery. I went with a “pop” or bright red (I like to call it “poppy red”) in my logo to represent the fun person that I am. Also, the color red is a color that represents passion which is exactly what I have for marketing (another nerdy quality ha). It also adds drama and spices up a logo when used in small doses. The psychology of color has always intrigued me, so if you’d like to learn a little more about it, check out what HGTV has to say: http://www.hgtv.com/color/the-psychology-of-color-choose-the-right-shade/pictures/index.html
As for the decision of font style, the font used for “Lindsay Plathe” gives it a personal touch, while the font of “marketing consulting” is both modern and professional.
After all that thought, this is what we have: (I just have to show it again!)
There you have it! Isn’t it glorious to behold?… 🙂
Hopefully, this gave you some insight as to what goes into creating an effective logo for a business. If you’re looking to brand yourself or your business (or have a friend who is), I would love to discuss it with you! Otherwise, if you have any questions or comments, I would LOVE to hear them!
